How Schools Could Use Social Media

I am very proud learning that my school where I graduated, ASSUMPTION COLLEGE OF DAVAO (formerly Assumption School Of Davao) come up with this idea on how to guide their students in their education.

Social Media has really influenced schools and the way education is being delivered.  The main reason why schools are encouraged their students to use SOCIAL MEDIA is the powerful ability they inspire and motivate youngsters.

I know that sometimes FACEBOOK,TWITTER,GOOGLE+,etc.. disturb the learning's of our students.  But these are just a case to case basis if we the parents can monitor and guide our children in their Social Media activities.

In my school they introduced another form of SOCIAL MEDIA that helps their students interact, create, share and get information about their studies and at the same time
parents can check online on their child's academic development.

GENYO e-Learning the first and only online learning management system for Basic Education in the Philippines.

It provides students and teachers with an exclusive online subscription 24/7 to a wide array of multimedia, curriculum-based teaching and learning resources.

You need to install plugins in order to use
it.  Compatible with browser...

GENYO really bridged the gap between the old learning's we have earned with the cyber learning our children have today.  This kind of Social Media Education is beginning to emerge and it's happening right now in Davao City.

I think Social Media would be a nice subject to be added to the curriculum as Social Media is gonna be prominent in after school environment. It would be a fun subject to take though.

Franc Ramon Says:

Social Media would really be an interesting subject and I think they should also include being a responsible social media person.

You have a typograpical error on your fourth paragraph: "MEDIAL" should be "MEDIA." Please correct.

Anyway onto my real comment: I have been with a company in Singapore which develops social networking tools for schools from grade school to graduate schools. They are to protect security of data being passed on and also make students concentrate on school work rather than other tasks not related to the lesson.

Raine Pal Says:

Thanks sis Rochkirstin for the correction.

My daughter uses Genyo too, in the school she goes to. These are essential tools for learning which our kids truly deserve.

Orly Ballesteros Says:

This tool will help faster transfer of education. However, in Merriam they are using another form of social tools where students can interact with students. In addition, student take their exam at home with time pressure. But all these tools are great in fostering better education.

I think this would be a fun way for kids to learn and use social media in a good way.
Since we all have to agree that S.media wont be going anywhere, we'll just have to learn how to put it to good use.

does it offer an official curriculum? I mean, can my kids use Genyo and just study from home and be credited for it?

Raine Pal Says:

Yes Romelo, your kids can use this.

Social Media indeed helps the student learn more.

Wow! Bongga ang Assumption. I really did not expect it to come from a humble school in Davao but I'm so proud to know about this.

Archie de Lara Says:

I just hope the students when using their school's social media use it in more responsible way.

Rossel Says:

Social media has greatly influenced both young and adults, and it's unstoppable. It's good to know that schools are now using the power of social media to create more value to learning.

jsncruz Says:

If it's online subscription based, that means it's exclusive and not very social, doesn't it? :P

I think it would be helpful if you could show HOW exactly schools could ACTUALLY use social media - in a general sense, and not via a third-party method which needs subscription to do so :)
